City in the Sky #1
Jackson was wearing a jacket that was thicker than his typical leather one. The inside was lined with dark gray wool, providing warmth that was much needed as he explored the cold city known as Wintervale. His metal mightyena mask was also heated, which meant his face was spared from the bitter cold. This was especially helpful as cold winds swept over the floating city.
His partner pokemon, Atlas, was walking by his side. The fusion had the body of a mightyena with a yellow horn. Luckily the pokemon was able to keep warm with his thick, fluffy blue and white coat.
“Alright we better get started.” Jackson sighed as he approached a line of solar panels. Most of the electronics in Wintervale were in desperate need of repair, and since the trainer was well versed in working with technology he had ended up coming to help. Though, he was starting to regret that as another gust of wind blew over the landscape.
Since he was already in Wintervale the trainer knew it was too late to change his mind now, so he settled on trying to get it done as quickly as possible. That way, he could get inside where it was warmer.
Jackson set his backpack down nearby, opening it so his tools were accessible. He then crouched down next to the solar panel as he looked it over. He hadn’t received any information as to why they weren’t working so he had to find the issue. Atlas stood over him, watching curiously.
As he was investigating the wires Jackson found that some of them were heavily damaged by ice, which would definitely render the solar panel useless. The trainer took a knife out of his pocket, clicking a button that extended a sharp blade. He then began to cut at the cords. He then was able to pull them out, although he had nothing to replace it with.
“Come on, we’re going to have to find replacement parts. I’d assume they’d have them somewhere.” Jackson said to Atlas. The pokemon trotted after him as the trainer headed towards some of the more crowded parts of the floating city.
Jackson and Atlas were now surrounded by black, metal walls and neon glowing lights. Beneath the city there was an extensive maze of tunnels and different rooms, including ones that contained engines to keep the city afloat. The trainer was sure the spare parts must be kept in the building. Still, the problem remained that he would either have to find the parts or someone who could point him in the right direction.
The trainer and his pokemon had to wander around for quite some time. The noctyena was looking around with fascination, much more curious about the building than Jackson. The human really just wanted to find the parts as fast as possible.
Finally they spotted someone in a workers uniform, who Jackson quickly flagged down. “Where can I find spare parts for the solar panels?” He questioned as the worker turned to him.
“Erm it’s up a floor and down quite a few turns.” The worker responded as he briefly looked down at a clipboard. “I should have enough time to walk you over there, though. Just follow me.” He explained, which was fine by Jackson.
The worker walked briskly as they reached a series of stairs. He then turned down multiple hallways, and Jackson knew he would have immediately gotten lost if it wasn’t for the worker guiding him. After some more walking the worker stopped at a large metal door, tapping a keycard that opened it. As the door opened a room containing shelves was revealed. Boxes of parts lined the shelves, although Jackson knew this couldn’t be all of the parts for the entire city.
“I gotta go, but I’ll let someone know to guide you out.” The worker said, walking away before Jackson could thank him.
“Well he’s in a hurry but at least that means we can get the parts quickly.” Jackson stated as he looked towards Atlas, who wagged his tail.
The trainer entered the room, at first overwhelmed by the amount of boxes and parts in the room. As he began to take a closer look he was relieved to see that everything was clearly marked with a label. There also seemed to be some organization system since groups of parts had colored stickers on them. However, Jackson had no idea what these colors meant so that wouldn’t be of much help. He sighed, knowing it would take him a few minutes to find the necessary parts.
