Kurai watched as Cole flew high above his head, just as Pesky raised his own head and placed his hand along the visor. “It’s not like you need that to shield you against the sun!”, Kurai called with an amused chuckle, but he didn‘t get much of a reaction from his friend. Sad - he wouldn‘t let himself be distracted, clearly. Didn‘t matter too much, Cole would still enjoy the fair fight.

“Alright, Cole - Throat Chop!“, Kurai called, watching as the dark typed Staraptor suddenly let himself fall down towards the earth, picking up speed. Haruki, the sparring partner, blinked slowly and kept his eyes trained onto the dark bird, his tail slowly moving behind him.

When Cole had almost hit the ground, he whirled around and aimed the side of his wing at Haruki, attempting to hit him into the throat, right below his chin. Before he could, Pesky whistled one, short command: „Dodge!“ And dodge Haruki did, jumping back and barely avoiding the oncoming wing. Air fluffed up his fur as Coles wing brushed barely past his nose, then a moment later the Staraptor was back up in the air. It scoffed, Kurai was sure he could still hear it even while he was down on the ground.

Well, throat chop was working, but it was probably best that Haruki had jumped back. Would be a damn shame if his training partner passed out too fast.

With a light grin, Kurai looked up. “Very good, Cole! Now it is time for the second attack! Use Dark Pulse!”, he called up, watching as the dark type staraptor beat its powerful wings. Slowly it turned in a circle, its beak soon covered in dark streams of aura, showing along its lines a purplish glow. The staraptor now fully turned and dashed back towards Haruki, though this time not quite as vertically as before, as Cole did not plan on actually hitting him with his body this time.

Instead, once he was close enough, a dark beam shot down from his beak and towards Haruki, fast and surprisingly broad for an attack that they were still practicing. “Ey, you’ve trained in private!”, Pesky laughed, looking down to Haruki. “Avoid it with Quick Attack! Try to hit it!”

The Dark Pulse crashed into the ground where the Eevee had been a mere moment earlier, whirling up dust and stones, as Cole looked around quickly to find his opponent. In a blur, Haruki showed up in front of him, trailing beams of white light behind himself with his speed, before trying to crash into the flying Pokémon.

Good. Close enough. Kurai looked up at Cole, quick to command: “Dark Lariat!”

“What - what is that?”, Pesky was quick to ask, his visor already beginning to glow as he looked up the attack. Just as he did, distracted for but a moment, Haruki slammed into Cole, the bird Pokémon taking the hit with an angry chirp and furrowed eyes. A moment later its claws clammed shut around the Eevees paws, as aura of red and black began to glow all around the bird Pokémon.

With a powerful slam, Staraptor threw Haruki back down towards the ground, where the Normal typed Pokémon crashed back where the Dark Pulse had hit a few moments prior. Confused, Haruki looked up, just in time to see Cole dashing towards him, turning into resembling a screwdriver as he circled around himself in quick succession, wings closed tight around its body.

Haruki gritted his teeth for a moment, then followed the distantly heard call to dodge, jumping away to the side. “No, further!”, Pesky called, making the Eevee look up at him just in time for Cole to reach the ground - and spread his wings, hitting Haruki along with the force of the movement the spinning had caught.

A yelp escaped Haruki as he got thrown across the training field, while the aura around Cole disappeared.

“Ey, unfair, I didn’t know that move!”, Pesky called, though there was an amused laugh in his tone - one that Kurai felt would come back to bite him.

Kurai eyed him, then looked back at the Staraptor standing on the battle field, watching as the Eevee got back up onto its paws. “Well, you guys did fight really well. Cole?”, he asked, to which the Staraptor looked back at him.

Then it turned its attention back to Haruki, who pushed himself back up onto all four paws and shook out his fur. For a moment, Cole simply puffed up his feathers, then began to approach the Eevee. The normal type Pokémon immediately took in a defensive stance, but to its surprise, Cole suddenly bowed to him, low and deep, without looking up. Haruki looked back at Cole with a confused glint in his eyes, then tilted his head, the defensive posture almost given up…

Just as Pesky noticed something. “Haruki! Jump back!”

Haruki flinched, trying to follow the command just in time as Cole suddenly pushed up, wings pulled back to reveal his talons, kicking at the Eevee. Haruki just barely escaped, the talons scraping off some last strands of fur, but then the Eevee managed to get out of attack radius. Landing further off, he gritted his teeth, staring at Cole, who slowly set himself back down on the ground.

Pesky frowned, amused. “Seriously. And you call me the cheater!”
“Ey, I’m fighting with a Dark type, you should expect some false surrender training!”, Kurai laughed, clapping his hands. Cole immediately pushed himself back up and flew to his trainer, quick to land on his shoulders, careful with his talons now as he perched above the Noivern fusions head. “But we’re done now! Good job, Cole!”
Satisfied, the Staraptor looked down at Haruki, who shook out his fur again and cleaned the ruffled parts. Truly… he couldn’t wait to just return to his comfortable bed!
