Tracking Totodile

Jackson paused for a moment as he spotted something up ahead. Him and his partner pokemon, Atlas, were currently exploring some of the wildress outside Rivertide City. The landscape around them consisted of grassy fields and a nearby lake. Different pokemon were scattered around but there was one in particular that had caught Jackson’s attention.

Coming from the direction of the lake was a totodile. The blue and red pokemon walked with a sort of waddle and its open mouth showed off its sharp teeth. Jackson had come to the area searching for a water pokemon and thought that totodile might just be the perfect one.

“Alright, we’re going to try and catch this guy. I’m going to throw out Shadow and I want to catch it off guard.” Jackson said to Atlas in a hushed voice. The pokemon’s ears twitched as he stared at the totodile.

The trainer began to slowly move forward, somewhat crouching down to try and stay out of sight. This proved to be somewhat challenging due to his prosthetic leg. Atlas moved next to him and nudged Jackson’s arm with his muzzle. Jackson then rested his arm on the noctyena’s back, helping him balance and keeping weight off his prosthetic leg.

It took some time as they moved slowly, stopping occasionally when the totodile looked more in their direction. But their patience paid off as they were soon close enough to the totodile. Jackson took a pokeball out of his backpack and threw it forward, sending out his delta ghost turtwig named Shadow. Shadow was able to immediately collide with the water pokemon.

The totodile let out a startled cry as it was caught by complete surprise. It fell over after Shadow’s hit. It then quickly scrambled back up and used water gun, shooting it into the turtwig’s face. Shadow took some damage from the attack but quickly shook it off.

“Use astonish!” Jackson called out to his pokemon. As Shadow used the move his face turned more frightening as a purple mist appeared, mixing with the black that extended from his body from his marking. A high pitched screaming sound could then be heard as a flash of purple hit the totodile.

The pokemon took a good amount of damage as it flinched, allowing time for Shadow to launch another attack. “Tackle!” The trainer said.

The delta ghost turtwig rushed forward and then with a leap crashed into the totodile. The totodile was sent backwards as it hit the ground with another startled cry. It stood back up and used bubble, sending a series of bubbles that hit Shadow.

“Tackle again!” Jackson shouted, hoping that the move would finish the battle. He proved to be right as Shadow executed a tackle again, leaving the totodile unconscious. The trainer then threw a pokeball that hit the totodile. It shook a few times before making a clicking sound, confirming that the pokemon had been caught.

“Yeah great job!” The trainer said to Shadow as the turtwig came back over with a wagging tail. He took out a potion and sprayed it on the pokemon to heal any damage he had taken from the battle.

Atlas’ tail was wagging as his trainer praised Shadow again, equally as excited about the successful encounter. Jackson then walked up and picked up the pokeball before putting it in his backpack. “Alright, let’s head back to the city then.” The trainer said as he began walking back.

He left Shadow out of his pokeball giving the turtwig the chance to trot along with him and Atlas. They soon enough reached the city, a beautiful sunset being visible over the ocean waters. Jackson put Shadow back in his pokeball as they reached more crowded parts of the city, afraid someone would trip over the somewhat small pokemon.

Jackson then boarded the train with Atlas, heading back towards his home in Thunderdale. As he sat down he reflected on the battle against the totodile. He was happy about how well Shadow had done and the successful catch. The trainer still hadn’t really caught all that many pokemon yet which made it especially exciting. He was also excited by the idea of catching and training more pokemon.
