Atlas Move Learning

Jackson was standing on a training field with his noctowl/mightyena fusion. Although, it wasn’t really a field. Being that they were in the underground city of Thunderdale there weren't really fields like someone might find in Grovehart or Rivertide. Instead, the training area was made from black asphalt with faded white lines. It was lit up by nearby light posts and nearby metal, grungy buildings that surrounded it. Thunderdale was exactly the prettiest or cleanest of cities, but it was where the two called home.

“Alright, let’s give this a try.” The trainer said to his pokemon as he swiped through some pages on his phone. “I guess… We can start with hyperspace fury.” His voice was a bit uncertain as he looked up at Atlas.

The blue and white pokemon made a few movements, seeming to have trouble with trying to execute the move. Jackson frowned as he looked back down at his phone, not exactly sure what to do. The trainer jumped a bit and looked up as he heard the sound of something colliding with the asphalt ground. Atlas was now creating small black discs with a glowing yellow outline and launching them towards the ground.

“... Okay yeah that works, nice job. They’re a little small though” Jackson said. He didn’t think the discs would be able to do much damage in their current state. The noctyena spent some time practicing the move until the discs grew into what seemed like a more adequate size.

“Yeah that’s looking much better!” The trainer said as he swiped through a couple more pages. “Alright this one should be easy, I think. Let’s try out dark pulse.”

Atlas began to focus again, seeming to fail at executing the move a few times. As he kept trying, a purple orb began to appear in front of him before disappearing. Jackson watched as the pokemon continued to practice, offering words of encouragement every so often. Soon enough Atlas was able to maintain the orbs for a more adequate amount of time. Then they slowly became larger until he was launching powerful pulses of dark energy at the ground.

“Okay… next we have moonblast.” Jackson said. Atlas seemed to have a particular amount of trouble with learning this move. It took a longer period of time before he was even able to somewhat execute the move. Which was him beginning to channel energy as his body emitted a soft white glow. As he continued to practice he started to get the hang of it.

The pokemon’s attacks were still somewhat weak as he sent orbs that resembled the move hurtling around, but Jackson figured this move might take more time for Atlas to master. Even the other moves he had learned would need more practice before Atlas would be able to use them consistently and at their full potential.

“Okay I think we’re good with that one for now. The last one I want to try out is misty explosion.” Jackson instructed. The noctyena immediately began to try and execute this move. This one seemed to come more easily to him than moonblast. At first Atlas was only able to create a small amount of pink mist to surround himself. As he continued to practice the mist grew larger and more powerful as he was able to send it towards the ground.

“Great work! I think that’s about all we can accomplish today.” Jackson praised his pokemon as he scratched his head.

It had now been several weeks since Atlas had originally learned hyperspace fury, dark pulse, moonblast, and misty explosion. Jackson had continued to take his partner pokemon to the training field daily and use the moves during their missions.

Now that the noctyena had been able to get more practice in his execution of the moves had greatly improved. He was now able to gather energy more quickly and get the moves to a more powerful level. Within the past few weeks Jackson had also added in a training dummy so the pokemon could work on his aim.

Jackson was calling out attacks as Atlas used them. First he created discs that hurtled through the air through hyperspace fury. They slammed into the dummy, sending small pieces of metal flying off of it. Next was dark pulse as the pokemon sent a wave of dark energy into the training dummy. With moonblast the training dummy continued to lose some pieces as its structural integrity weakened. When Atlas finally hit the dummy with misty explosion it shattered into a bunch of small pieces that went flying everywhere.

“Well… that’s going to be a pain to clean up.” Jackson said with a laugh. Atlas wagged his tail and ran up to his trainer as he began to pet him. “Great work, though. I think we’ll be pretty formidable in battle.”
