Mission #8

The train slowed down to a stop as they reached Grovehart’s station. They nudged their pokemon awake and then got off the train. Kavi led the way as they began to head down the crowded streets of Grovehart. All around them were sleek, modern buildings and vibrant plant life.

After walking for some time Kavi and Amber reached neighborhoods filled with houses. Kavi turned down the road and then followed the sidewalk to one of the houses front doors. He rang the doorbell and a few seconds later the door swung open. An older woman stood in the doorway, smiling and holding an egg.

“Oh good! I’m glad you’re here. As I told you before, I need this egg delivered to my friend in Ethermoor. He lives by the deadlands.”

“We’ll get it there safely, not to worry!” Kavi said as he took the egg. The trainer set down his backpack and began to clear out some room, giving a few items to Amber so she could hold onto them for the time being. Once there was enough room he gently placed the egg in the backpack, zipping it up and putting it on.

The woman waved as Amber and Kavi left, their pokemon following behind them. “You didn’t tell me the drop off was in the deadlands.” Amber said, her voice curious.

“I honestly didn’t know. She just said Ethermoor. But with the payment offered I think the trip out there is worth it. I can split it with you, but I understand if you don’t want to come along now.” Kavi replied and Amber shook her head.

“No, I don't mind tagging along. Besides, you might need the backup.” The scientist replied. The deadlands wasn’t exactly super dangerous, but there were still wild pokemon that sometimes attacked travelers. Kavi had his own pokemon, a servine/salazzle fusion named Sizzle that could help fend off any pokemon. With Amber tagging along her pokemon, Lumi, would also be able to help with any battles. Lumi was a shiny sanyatto who wore a necklace with an oval stone and small light beacons.

Soon enough the two were back on the train towards Ethermoor. They could see the environment change from grassy fields and forests to dry desert. Once they got closer to Ethermoor city they could see the volcano towering over the landscape. A small amount of smoke was coming from the volcano, which was still very much active.

“I don’t think I could live next to a volcano.” Amber said as she looked out the window.

“I’m actually from Ethermoor. You get used to it.” Kavi replied as he set the backpack on his lap. He was sure to hold onto it, making sure that nothing happened to the egg.

“Oh that’s cool.” Amber nodded. They both got up as the train came to a stop in the station near the outskirts of Ethermoor city. Kavi picked up the backpack and put it back on his shoulders, making sure it was securely in place.

“You should lead, I’m guessing you know this area well.” Amber suggested.

“Oh I can get there no problem. Let’s go.” Kavi said confidently as he began to walk towards the desert. Lumi was looking around the area curiously while Sizzle focused on her trainer.

They could feel the heat beating down on them as they walked. Sizzle was unbothered, being a fire type and very comfortable around the heat. Lumi, on the other hand, was already panting as her fluffy coat heated up.

The buildings were disappearing in the distance as they headed towards the mostly empty desert. This was, of course, aside from pokemon and some desert plant life. So far none of the pokemon had been hostile towards them.

“There’s a lot of interesting pokemon around here.” Amber observed and Kavi nodded in agreement.

“This is a great place to catch pokemon for sure. Lots of fire types and some other ones like steel and dark.” He said as he adjusted the backpack on over his shoulders. The egg certainly was a bit heavy.

“I’ll have to come back here sometime to observe and probably catch some fire type pokemon.” The scientist replied thoughtfully. She couldn’t help but think about all the interesting pokemon that could be useful for research. Amber was also thinking of building up her team. Even though she wasn’t really one for battling her brother was always encouraging her to build up a strong team. Though, she had mainly become interested in this since it would give her a good way to study pokemon in battle and their bonds with trainers.
