City in the Sky #3

Amber looked out the train window as they neared the floating city of Wintervale. The entire landscape was covered in white snow and ice, although the city of course was the prominent sight. She could see tall buildings that sat on top of an upside down pyramid that made up the base of the city. The scientist naturally was also fascinated by the technology that allowed the entire city to float. Even if her work was mostly focused on pokemon she was interested in a variety of scientific topics.

As the train came to a slow stop Amber got off with her pokemon, Lumi, following behind her. The cat-like pokemon’s ears were perked up as she looked around. The trainer soon found the group offering transportation. This transportation was a group of corviknights that would easily be able to fly up to the city.

“Hi! I need to get up to the city.” Amber said as she approached and one of the members of the transportation team nodded.

“Climb aboard then!” The other trainer replied as she got onto her corviknight. Before Amber got on she took out Lumi’s pokeball and held it out until a beam of light appeared. The sanyatto disappeared into her pokeball. Amber had figured trying to get Lumi on the corviknight and up to the city with them wasn’t exactly a great idea.

Once Amber was ready the corviknight took off into the sky. The trainer was a bit nervous as the flying pokemon got higher and higher as she clutched onto its feathers. Just when Amber thought she wouldn’t be able to take anymore time in the air the corviknight landed on the snowy ground.

The trainer thanked her ride and the corviknight began to swoop back down towards the ground, ready to provide more people with transport. Amber took Lumi’s pokeball back out and threw it into the air as the sanyatto reappeared.

Amber looked around for a moment as she tried to figure out where to go. There was a lot going on, especially considering the city was still under construction. One of Wintervale’s workers seemed to notice her confusion as he walked over to her.

“Anything I can help you with?” He asked and Amber nodded.

“Yeah, I mean… If you can help.” She replied with a laugh. The trainer explained how she had come to offer help doing whatever the city needed. The man nodded as she spoke, waiting for the end of her explanation before he spoke.

“Well thank you so much for coming to help.” He said with a smile. “We are in need of some help from electric pokemon.” The worker added as he looked at Lumi.

Amber had agreed to help the city through Lumi’s electric abilities. The worker had then explained their needs in more detail. Much of the city’s power infrastructure had been heavily damaged since Rayquaza had attacked. They were hoping that electric pokemon would be able to provide power boosts.

The worker had given her directions on how to get to the batteries that were in desperate need of recharging. She had navigated there and was now standing along rows of batteries. Some of them were small, meant to power hand held electric devices, while others were large in order to power more heavy machinery.

“We might have our work cut out for us.” Amber said as she looked over at Lumi, who tilted her head slightly. “I’ll need you to use your electric type moves on the batteries.”

With that Lumi seemed to get herself ready to execute whatever moves her trainer requested as she moved in front of her. After a few moments of thinking she decided that discharge would probably be able to power the greatest number of batteries at the same time.

“Alright, let’s try discharge.” Amber said as she took several steps back, wanting to get out of range of the move. Once her trainer was a safe distance away Lumi followed the command as she concentrated and used the move. The sanyatto created a shockwave of yellow cackling electricity that radiated out in a circle around her.

The wave of electricity began to hit some of the batteries, causing them to start glowing as she could see their charge increasing. “Great, that worked!” The trainer exclaimed happily and Lumi wagged her kinked tail. Now that the idea had proven successful they moved on to the next set of batteries, using discharge again. They continued this as they went from section to section, powering up the batteries with Lumi’s electricity.
