Blastoise Influence
Jackson was walking down the busy streets of Grovehart with his noctyena following behind him. The trainer didn’t even have to talk about his path as he turned and headed towards a building. The building was large with glass walls and had outcroppings where green plant life grew.
As he pulled the door open Jackson saw his sister, Amber, standing on the other side. She waved him over, saying hello to his pokemon Atlas. Her own pokemon, a sanyatto named Lumi, trotted forward to greet the noctyena.
“So you brought your pokemon?” Amber asked and her brother nodded as he took out a pokeball then threw it towards the clean tiled floor. As the pokeball disappeared a Wartortle appeared in its place. The pokemon looked around with wide, amazed eyes as his fluffy tail swished.
Jackson had just recently caught the water pokemon and had seen an opportunity to try a new type of evolution he had heard about. The evolution only happened when pokemon interact with certain kinds of electronics. It had been termed “influenced” and permanently altered the pokemon. Getting a pokemon to go through this type of evolution wasn’t simple. Based on the pokemon’s own energy they only interacted with certain electronics which could change based on each individual. The pokemon also had to do it willingly.
Knowing all of this about influenced pokemon Jackson had requested the help of his sister. Since she worked in a laboratory in Grovehart she had access to a lot of different types of electronics that his wartortle could interact with. Amber’s husband, Daniel, was also an expert on the topic so he had passed a lot of his knowledge along to her.
Amber reached down to pet the Wartortle on the head, then began to lead the way across the room as Lumi bounced along. As she reached a door the trainer had to tap her ID in order to enter as it unlocked with a click. As the door opened Jackson saw a long hallway with numbered doors.
“These are all different labs. A lot of the rooms we can’t go into since there’s active experiments going on. But I have some friends that said we could check out their technology.” Amber explained as she walked down the hallway until she reached a door. She again had to tap her ID in order to enter, keeping the door open for Jackson to enter behind her.
The room was filled with various scientific equipment which Jackson couldn’t even hope to identify. As the pokemon entered the room the wartortle began to walk around and tap some of the equipment curiously. Lumi and Atlas were watching nearby.
“Doesn’t seem like there’s anything in this room that he wants to interact with.” Amber said after they had spent some time in the room. Jackson nodded with understanding as he followed Amber back into the hallway. Even if he was eager to have an influenced pokemon he knew there was no way to force evolution.
They had to go through a few more rooms until they finally found one that seemed to interest the wartortle. This room had a collection of various types of lasers that were, of course, currently deactivated. As the brown shelled pokemon came forward he began to tentatively touch the lasers.
Amber and Jackson watched as the wartortle went through the room and the pokemon seemed to focus more on one particular laser. “I can turn it on.” She said, stepping forward and turning on the laser. It then created a small beam of bright red light.
As the wartortle interacted with the laser something interesting began to happen. The pokemon began to glow a bright white like most did when evolving. Lumi and Atlas seemed to react to this as they jumped up to their paws with ears perked up.
It took a few moments but when the glow faded a blastoise replaced the spot where the wartortle had been. His light blue skin had been replaced with a dark gray. The bastoise’s shell was also now black with glowing streaks of green and red, which resembled the very laserbeams that came from the device. The characteristic cannons had also changed color, with one being green and one being red.
“Well I’d say that worked.” Amber said with amazement. Influenced evolution was somewhat rare and she always thought it was amazing to see.
“It sure did.” Jackson said happily. Lumi and Atlas were now playing with the newly evolved blastoise.
