Spirimast Influence
Daniel was standing in his laboratory as he pulled a pokeball out of his backpack. It disappeared as he threw it into the air in front of him, a fintooth appearing in its place. The pokemon, named Cove, was a desaturated purple with white markings and bright blue water along his back. Cove’s orange eyes glanced around curiously as he took in his surroundings.
The trainer’s laboratory was currently filled with a variety of different electronics. It ranged from more scientific kinds of equipment like microscopes and DNA analyzers to common items like computers, solar panels, and building tools. This was due to Daniel currently trying to get more information about a unique evolution type called “influenced”. Since modern technology became more common pokemon would sometimes interact with it and evolve with the technology influencing their markings and body.
There was still a lot that was unknown about how influencing worked, especially in regards to how pokemon interacted with electronics. This led Daniel to his current experiment on how Cove would interact with electronics and hopefully evolve. The scientist stood back and watched as the fintooth began to explore the laboratory. He thought it was important to let the pokemon interact with technology and explore in its own way. This was especially true considering influenced evolution wasn’t exactly the kind of thing that you could force. Not that the trainer would want to force a pokemon into a situation either way.
Cove started out with the scientific equipment as he reached out a front fin to touch them. He was able to push and turn some of the buttons on the microscope, looking at it curiously. He then moved on to the DNA analyzer, continuing to play around with all the buttons. However, nothing happened.
Daniel watched as Cove moved on to the more common objects, the process going much of the same way. The fintooth would walk around and touch the various objects but no hints of evolution happened. After some more time passed the scientist decided it was probably time for a break.
The trainer thought the best way to take this break would be to walk around outside the laboratory. He exited the building onto the crowded streets of Grovehart. Cove seemed to be a bit overwhelmed by the amount of people and pokemon walking by as he stood close to his trainer. After a few moments the fintooth seemed to become more confident and the two began to walk together.
After walking for some time the two began to walk alongside the river that ran around part of the city. Daniel always found the sound of gentle flowing water relaxing, and he figured his water pokemon would enjoy being close to the river. Sure enough Cove seemed to be very interested in exploring around the river.
Soon enough the two came across a small dock where multiple boats were tied to the wooden walkway. The boats were relatively small with multi-colored holosails. Daniel figured they were likely more of hobby boats for wealthy citizens that liked to fish or spend time out on the water.
Cove moved closer to the boat, looking curious. Before Daniel could object, the pokemon scrambled up the boat and closer to the sail. With a tilted head he began to interact with the holosail, running his fin alongside it. Right as the trainer was about to suggest the pokemon should probably get off the boat Cove began to glow a bright white.
Daniel was amazed and elated to see the pokemon begin to evolve, the glow fading and revealing a spirimast. Cove was now a deeper purple with a long snout and jagged teeth. Where the water had been along his back was now a smooth dorsal fin. It transitioned from a bright pink to bright blue, the top of it shining in the sunlight.
The trainer’s excitement started to turn to worry as the boat began to lower in the water with Cove’s now much heavier weight. “Uh hurry up and get off the boat!” He called out to the pokemon.
Cove immediately followed the command as he leaped into the river with a large splash. The boats rocked back and forth before settling back into place as Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. He could see his pokemon’s multi-colored smooth sail moving through the water as Cove swam around. Only the top of his snout, eyes, and ears were poking out as he looked over to his trainer. Daniel couldn’t help but laugh at the whole situation.
