Frontline Mission #17
Phoenix was standing on the rocky surface in his home city of Ethermoor with his partner luxray, Ignatius. Being a delta fire type Ignatius had orange and red gradients where you would expect to see blue on a typical luxray. Flames also burned around some parts of his body and he had red rayze markings.
Something caught the attention of both of them as they saw flashes of different colors coming from down from the dark sky before disappearing behind buildings. Phoenix figured they probably crashed closer to the sandy Deadlines rather than next to the city. The trainer tapped his foot against the ground for a few moments before looking to Ignatius. “I think we should go check it out, what do you say?” He asked, and the luxray’s alert look as its ears and tail straightened signaled he was ready to go.
Being further into the dark the normally blistering hot desert was a bit cooler as they made their way over the sands. As they got to the top of a sand dune they could see what the cause of the colorful shower was. Miniors. Them falling from the sky wasn’t all that unusual since they formed high above the ground, but their level of distress certainly was.
The miniors were moving around in a rather panicked fashion and as Phoenix observed them he began to see why. Some of them were beginning to fuse with nera, causing them a significant amount of stress. He saw a few that had changed elements into a mossy or lava rock along with some that had fused with the nera of other pokemon, creating fusions.
Some of the other Ethermoor citizens had come to investigate too, although they were much more apprehensive than Phoenix. The trainer immediately began to sprint towards the action with Ignatius following hot on his heels.
“Okay Ignatius help me round up the pedigrees so we can get them to saftey.” Phoenix called out. He thought that the best first course of action would be to prevent more miniors becoming distressed. Then they would have to deal with all the ones that had already fused with nera.
The luxray didn’t hesitate as he followed his trainer’s command. He bounced to some nearby miniors, shooting small blasts of fire in their direction. Startled, the miniors began to move back away from the nera. Phoenix flanked them on the other side to make sure they didn’t run off in a different direction. Working together in perfect sync they got the miniors up onto the safety of the nearby sand dune. There, the other citizens began to lead the pedigrees back to the city. Or at least further away from the chaos.
Phoenix and Ignatius had to repeat this process a few times, bringing more and more pedigrees to be escorted further away. There were a few that they unfortunately didn’t get too before they fused with nera, but at least there were significantly less miniors now. The real problem would be trying to calm down this pokemon.
The trainer didn’t have time to think of a plan as he saw Ignatius get headbutted from the corner of his eye. The pokemon had been attacked by a very distressed fused minion. The wild pokemon had fused with a growlithe, turning its round shape into a rocky four logged puppy-like creature.
“I guess with this one we really don’t have any choices left… use fusion flare!” Phoenix shouted to Ignatius. The luxray sent bursts of fire towards the minior/growlithe fusion. However, it was able to quickly recover considering the fire type didn’t do as much damage. Ignatius’ type disadvantage was shown even more as the fusion used ancient power, sending rocks flying at the luxray.
Ignatius tried his best to dodge but still got hit with a few of the rocks, causing him to take some damage. Phoenix didn’t have a lot of other options since he specialized in fire types. Still, he figured two pokemon would be better than one as he pulled a pokeball out of his pocket. Once he threw it out a delta fire carnabone appeared. The pokemon was a deep red and its usual bones now looked like molten rock.
“Vulcan, use magma storm!” Phoenix said. Even though his pokemon had just joined the battle he proved ready for action as he hurled molten lava towards the minior. The type disadvantage was still troublesome but Vulcan did manage to deal a decent amount of damage on the minior. Phoenix knew it wouldn’t be easy to defeat this wild pokemon with two fire types.
