the mushrooms glowed Like lanterns, lighting narrow paths and hidden clearings in soft shades of blue, pink and violet. some said the mushrooms held ancient magic or healing capabilities. Some said they only glowed around those with kind hearts.

Ashe, a clever girl with messy Neapolitan-ice cream colored hair and a satchel full of useful items, knew the forest well. her partner Mr. Big a Big-hearted Incineroar, padded beside her through the mossy undergrowth. though he looked fierce, Mr.Big had a gentle soul and always kept an eye on Ashe His trainer and best friend.

Tonight, they were on a special mission for Baba, an old kind lady who often seeks help from trainers who are starting their journeys. baba made healing teas and mysterious salves with the mushrooms and tonight she needed the rare Luma Mushrooms, which only glowed under the moonlight for those with the most kind and gentle hearts.

the deeper they walked, the brighter the mushrooms became. ashe picked them carefully placing them in a small basket baba had woven herself.

Suddenly Mr.Big's ears twitched

A rustle

Then- a shimmer of movement behind a fern

Mr big nosed ashe nudging her in the direction of the rustle and pointing with a claw.

ashe crouched down and peeked between the leaves. there, nibbling on a berry, was the cutest little pokemon she had ever seen- an Eevee/whimsicott with fur that sparkled faintly under the moonlight.

"whoa" ashe whispered "your not from around here are you little one?"

the eevee/whimsicott perked up wide-eyed and curious then-POOF-vanished to hide behind a tree with a quick dash.

"come on" Ashe whispered to Mr.Big and the two of them followed quietly

the chase wasn't wild or fast, more like a gentle game of hide-and-seek. the eevee/whimsicott would peek out, tail wagging, then disappear just as they got close.

eventually, the trail led them to a small clearing filled with mushrooms that glowed so brightly it looked like daylight. in the center of the clearing was the eevee/whimsicott, sitting calmly, waiting

Ashe smiles and knelt down "are you alone out here little one?"

the eevee/whimsicott tilted its head, then trotted over and nudged her hand

she held out a poke ball slowly "want to come with us"

The eevee/whimsicott tapped the ball with its nose

*click*

and just like that Eevee/whimsicott was captured.

Ashe grinned and Mr.Big gave a low happy growl

They gathered the last few mushrooms and began the quiet walk back to where Baba was. the glowing mushrooms lighting their way like fairy lights. with eevee/whimsicott safe in its poke ball and Mr.Big purring softly and sleepily, Ashe looked up at the stars and thought

"tonight feels like magic~"
